Speech-Language Pathologist
Franciscan Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to provide evaluation and treatment for patients with speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. In this role, you’ll help patients strengthen or restore their communication and swallowing abilities, empowering them to succeed in their educational, professional, and social lives.
Hours: Full-time 32 hours per week; daytime hours
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Asses, diagnose, treat, and help prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, and fluency.
- Evaluate, treat, and teach patients who cannot produce speech sounds or cannot produce them clearly; those with speech rhythm and fluency problems; those with voice disorders; those with problems understanding and producing language; and those with cognitive communication impairments.
- Evaluate, treat and teach patients who have swallowing difficulties using clinical bedside swallowing evaluations and modified barium swallow studies.
- Provide counseling to individuals and their families concerning communication disorders.
- Use special instruments and qualitative and quantitative assessment methods, including standardized tests, to analyze and diagnose the nature and extent of impairments.
- Develop an individualized plan of care, tailored to each patient's needs.
- Select augmentative or alternative communication methods for patients with little or no verbal speech capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience
- Graduated from an accredited university with a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Nebraska State License in Speech Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) with the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), or be in a Clinical Fellowship
Other Competencies
- Skill in writing reports, preparing correspondence, and keeping patient care records.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Skill in identifying and recommending problem resolution.
- Ability to evaluate utilization statistics and other data.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
